Open Access Policy

Open Access Policy

Sustainable Planet Sciences is a fully open-access journal. Every article we publish is freely available to read, download, and reuse by anyone, anywhere in the world, immediately upon publication — at no cost to readers or authors.

Creative Commons Licensing

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This means readers may:

…provided they give appropriate credit to the original authors, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made.

No Article Processing Charges (APCs)

We do not charge any fees to authors. There are no submission fees, no page charges, no colour figure charges, and no APCs. This policy applies to all authors worldwide.

We believe that scientific knowledge, particularly research relevant to planetary sustainability, should not be locked behind paywalls or fee barriers. Our diamond open-access model is supported by institutional partnerships and volunteer editorial labour.

Copyright

Authors retain the copyright to their published work. By submitting, authors grant the journal a licence to publish the work under the CC BY 4.0 terms. Authors are free to deposit their articles in institutional repositories, preprint servers, and personal websites at any time.

Self-Archiving

Authors may archive the final published version (version of record) in any repository immediately upon publication. We encourage authors to deposit their work in their institutional repository, subject repositories (e.g. EarthArXiv), and discovery platforms (ORCID, ResearchGate).

Indexing & Discovery

Reuse & Translation

The CC BY licence allows anyone to translate, reformat, or otherwise reuse our content, provided proper attribution is given. We particularly welcome translations of our research into other languages to broaden accessibility.
